Brown Butter Blackberry Muffins

These muffins are a delightful combination of rich brown butter and sweet blackberries. They have a subtle nutty flavor from the browned butter and burst with juicy blackberry goodness in every bite.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Start by heating the oven to 350F 175C

You can line a muffin tin with paper liners

Melt the butter over medium-low heat in a saucepan

Stir the pan every so often as you keep cooking until the butter turns golden brown and smells nutty

Take it off the heat and let it cool down a bit

Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl

Add the egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to a different bowl, and mix them together using a whisk

Add the browned butter to the wet ingredients and mix them well

Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and mix it in just a little

Make sure not to mix it too much; a few lumps are fine

Add the blackberries to the batter slowly

Fill up about two thirds of the way to the top of each muffin cup with batter

After the oven is hot, bake the muffins for 18 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean

After taking the muffins out of the oven, let them cool in the pan for a few minutes

Then, move them to a wire rack to cool all the way down

Have fun with your tasty blackberry and brown butter muffins!
